SEDIMARK – SEcure Decentralised Intelligent Data MARKetplace

The European Union (EU), with its Data Act Regulation, has a vision to become the world’s largest and most secure data hub, where companies can exploit data to promote research, education and business. This requires significant investment in the development of tools for data interoperability, secure data sharing and data discovery. In the past, several attempts have been made towards data interoperability, especially in the field of the Internet of Things (IoT). Considering that EU data will constitute an economic weight estimated at 800 billion euros by 2025, special attention should be paid to data management techniques that can improve accessibility and discoverability of high quality, secure and privacy preserving data.

SEDIMARK aims to provide a secure and decentralised marketplace for data and related services, where scattered data from various domains and geographical areas can be easily collected, cleansed, protected, discovered, enriched with metadata, and exploited by connected models (e.g. Machine Learning). SEDIMARK aims to develop tools that support and promote the FAIR data concept, ensuring that highly interoperable data is securely stored, discovered, accessed and reused easily/securely in various contexts.

Within this project, EGM is responsible for the technical package of distributed data quality and interoperability management and is particularly involved in the following aspects

  • Development of distributed AI algorithms for data quality management
  • Reduction of the environmental footprint of data management processes
  • Integration of the project modules into its water resources management platform
