BioReCer Product Insights
As part of the European BioReCer project, EGM has developed a new generation traceability platform: BioReCer Product Insights. Its objective: to enable every stakeholder – industrial players, local authorities, producers, distributors – to better understand the products they manufacture or purchase, tell their story, and measure their environmental impact.
Understanding Where Each Product Comes From
Product Insights associates each product with a “digital passport” that brings together:
-
its raw materials and their origins,
-
the main processing stages,
-
the distances traveled and the means of transport,
-
an estimated environmental footprint,
-
available labels and certifications.
The information is accessible through an interactive map, a timeline, and detailed product sheets, available on desktop or smartphone. Use cases range from sawdust to biofuel, but the platform can just as easily track an agri-food ingredient, a manufactured product, or a stream of recovered waste.
Helping Companies Improve
An integrated self-assessment module acts as a sustainability coach: based on a structured questionnaire, the company obtains an overall score and pillar-based scores (environmental, social, economic), compared to the average of its sector. The platform then highlights concrete recommendations to improve practices and prepare for potential certification processes.
A Tool for Territories and Short Supply Chains
For local authorities, BioReCer Product Insights can become the digital foundation of new local ecosystems:
-
mapping material flows and stakeholders within a territory,
-
showcasing local products and their real impact,
-
creating digital territorial labels,
-
supporting responsible public procurement.
The same principles can be applied to rural or isolated areas, in Europe and on other continents, where the platform helps cooperatives, artisans, or SMEs better promote their products in regional markets.
Towards New Exchange Platforms
Because it combines traceability, impact assessment, and clear information presentation, the solution can also serve as the basis for thematic or territorial marketplaces: a catalog that can be filtered by origin, proximity, or impact score, and buyer/seller connections with an enhanced level of trust.
