DynaCITY is developing a participatory urban digital twin framework, powered by artificial intelligence, real-time data and advanced simulations, to support cities in their transition towards more sustainable, resilient and inclusive territories.
In two words
DynaCITY offers an innovative approach to urban planning by combining digital twin, AI and citizen participation. The objective is to help communities anticipate, design and evaluate development scenarios on key topics such as mobility, energy, land use, infrastructure and climate resilience.
The issues
Cities are facing increasingly complex challenges: adaptation to climate change, emissions reduction, mobility transformation, pressure on infrastructure, data fragmentation and the need to involve citizens more in public decision-making. DynaCITY addresses these challenges by proposing a digital environment capable of linking data, simulation, and the co-construction of urban policies.
The project
Coordinated by the University of Patras within the framework of Horizon Europe, DynaCITY is a 36-month project launched in May 2026. It relies on three complementary technological building blocks: XModel, for the simulation of scenarios; XDesign, for the co-design of urban solutions; and XEngage, to structure stakeholder participation.
The project will be deployed in five pilot cities : Heidelberg, Lund, Menton, Funchal and Beirut to demonstrate the capacity of the device to adapt to various urban contexts and produce measurable impacts on the transformation of territories.
The role of EGM
EGM contributes to the DynaCITY project with its expertise in smart territories, digital twins and decision support tools. The company is involved in building an ecosystem capable of integrating urban data, facilitating interoperability and making it a concrete support for planning and territorial governance.
As part of the project, EGM also brings its vision of a smart city based on open, standardized solutions adapted to the needs of communities. This contribution is in line with the work carried out by EGM on smart territories and digital devices for public action.
