Diatomic – Developing advanced electronic solutions for beekeeping –The ARCHIVE project
The DIATOMIC project is the Digital Innovation Hubs boosting European Microelectronics Industry. Within this project EGM won a sub-project called ARCHIVE (Advanced Remote Connected HIVE) to develop an advanced micro-electronic –enabled device addressing agriculture in the beekeeping domain.
Since the 1990s, beekeepers around the world have observed a massive and sudden decline in honey bee population. The main causes are climate change, pesticide use, habitat loss and parasites. EGM will develop an advanced electronic system that assesses various statuses which is very important for environment evaluation and for beekeeping management to prevent depopulation phenomenon. The product will be an autonomous connected door including many sensors and in particular an innovative bee counter and sound analysis module for detecting, amongst other, the Asian hornet.
